Botox Injection

Over the years, the movements of the muscles in which we use our facial expressions and the wrinkles on our face due to aging become apparent. Of course, it is our desire to eliminate the negative effects of a tired and sad external appearance on our social life without losing our mimic movements and disrupting our naturalness and to become younger for 5-10 years quickly. Botox application, which is one of the most popular and indispensable cosmetic applications of recent years, is suitable for everyone who wants to say goodbye to wrinkles within 10 minutes in a hospital environment. In the botox process, botulinum toxin creates a temporary paralysis in our mimic muscles and it is aimed to prevent possible streaks in the skin as a result of the movement of the muscles. “Botulinum toxin”, the raw material of botox, is a toxin secreted by a bacterium called “Clostridium botulinum”, its effect is not permanent and removed from the body in time. However, when applied regularly for 8 months-years and by trained people, it delays the effects of aging in the long term and the lines we call “permanent” or “static” wrinkles on our face (especially the lines on the forehead lines between the eyebrows and crow’s feet around the eyes) prevents it before it occurs. The lines on our face first dynamically (with mimic movements) begin at the end of the 20s in the early period of life. However, if these lines are not treated in their 30s and afterwards, and if they are not prevented with applications such as botox, they become more pronounced and become permanent “lines independent of ‘static’ mimic movements. Unfortunately, these lines are deeper and the treatment is a little more difficult. As the depth of our lines increases, the injection dose of botulinum toxin required to eliminate the lines increases, and even additional cosmetic procedures such as filling and fractional laser, fractional radiofrequency with gold needles are needed.

With the Botox process, it is possible to interfere with the lines on the forehead, between the eyebrows or crow’s feet, as well as the rabbit lines on the nose and cigarette lines above the upper lip. It is very easy to lift the tip of the nose, to raise the eyebrows, to eliminate the dimpled or double-headed chin appearance, to eliminate the problems of clenching by applying deep injection to the masseter (chewing muscle). With botox application, it is possible to eliminate the cosmetic smile problems that occur with abnormal amount of gum appearance during the smile called “gummy smile”.

The duration of the botox procedure depends on the age of the patient, the prominence of facial expressions, skin elasticity, alcohol, cigarette consumption, diet, etc. Although it may vary depending on environmental factors such as, it is usually 6-8 months. However, aging effects will be delayed after each application on a patient undergoing botox treatment.

Since the application is performed under local anesthesia with the help of fine-tipped insulin injectors into the muscle, it does not cause any restriction in social life except for a slight pain sensation during the application. It should not be forgotten that the botox effect can be seen immediately after the application, but the maximum effect of the procedure will occur in the 2nd week. Patients are advised not to lie on their face alone, to hang upside down for a long time, and to avoid environments such as hot baths and saunas for 1-2 days. When necessary, corrections are possible with additional doses called “touch up” in the control in the 2nd week so as not to spoil the natural appearance.
