Vitiligo is a skin disease of unknown cause, in which white areas caused by pigment loss are seen on the skin. Any part of the body can be affected, most commonly the face, lips, hands, arms, legs and genital areas. It occurs in 1% of the world population and affects men, women and all races equally. Vitiligo; Affects 1 or 2 in 100 patients; Although it can be seen at any age from infancy to old age, half of the patients begin before the age of 20 and 20% of the patients have a family history. Focal segmental vitiligo subtype (patches with limited localized pigment loss) is frequently seen clinically in childhood.
